'Dust Clouds in the Eagle Nebula' Paper exhibition

Photography by Richard Sweeney

'Inspired by photography from the Hubble space telescope, Andy Singleton attempts to explore the scale, intricacy and beauty of our universe. Choosing the medium of large scale paper cuttings, he hopes to inspire the same sense of awe that we feel when we look into the deepest regions of space. '

This is the completed hand cut paper installation piece, 'Dust Clouds in the Eagle Nebula' currently being exhibited at the Bowery gallery, Headingly, Leeds.

Paper Cut Exhibition, The Bowery, Leeds 8th July - Oct 22

I have recently been asked to create a large scale paper installation piece at The Bowery Gallery, Leeds. The work is going to be a freestyle paper cut on a scale i have never attempted before. Stretching roughly 15 meters in length, the cut is going to take inspiration from images of the Universe.
For now that is all i can tell you, but i can give a little taster of the work to come. The images below are a series of cuts i created over the last few days in preparation for the large work.

paper cut test sheets

Cosmic dust (test 4) 594mm x420mm

Nebula (test 3) 594mm x420mm

The show opens on the 8th of July and continues until the 22nd of Oct. More details to come.
